General Versoza, next in line...

The National Police Commission chaired by DILG Secretary RONALDO V PUNO recommended to President ARROYO the designation of General Versoza as the next PNP Chief and his promotion to the rank of a four-star general. According to DILG Assistant Secretary Bryan Corpuz, the recommendation was signed by PUNO, NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman and Executive Officer EDUARDO U. ESCUETA, Commissioners CELIA SANIDAD-LEONES, MIGUEL G CORONEL, LUIS R HENERAL and PNP Chief Director General AVELINO I. RAZON, JR

The NAPOLCOM said there is a need to designate VERSOZA since General RAZON will compulsarily retire from the service on September 27 and on account of such retirement, "There is a need to designate the Chief of the PNP from among the senior police commissioned officers and to promote him to the vacancy in the rank of Police Director General."

The NAPOLCOM said VERSOZA is the most senior Police Commissioned Officer in the PNP Seniority Linear List and it " finds no legal impediment to his designation" as Chief, PNP and his promotion to Director General.

VERSOZA, a member of PMA MAGILAS Class of 1976, is the current PNP deputy Chief for Administration, the second-highest position in the PNP. VERSOZA gained fame forhis anti-crime accomplishments when he was still with the defunct Criminal Investigation Service. SPIRITUAL COPS

At least 40,000 Mamang Pulis have completed a personality and spiritual development seminar aimed at infusing Christian values among policemen. The graduates, comprising of 33 percent of the PNP force, completed the Purpose Driven Life Seminars supervised by the PNP Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development headed by Director GERMAN B. DORIA.
The seminar is based on a book written by Rick Warren and released in 2002. It was one of the New York Times bestsellers and considered as one of the 100 Christian Books that changed the 20th century.

"The job of a police officer is not only hazardous but also vulnerable to corruption and malpractices. The PNP leadership sees it fit to infuse and integrate Christian Values to truly achieve the desired transformation of the organization," said PNP Spokesman Chief Superintendent NICANOR A BARTOLOME.

PNP Chief Director General AVELINO I RAZON JR hopes to increase the number of policemen graduating from the seminar. RAZON also wants misbehaving officers and men to undergo a training program that is anchored on spiritual, moral dimension, counseling and discipline.
